Despite our NYOLEM challenge, we also have housing advice. Indeed, as a student, we know that finding an apartment isn’t easy. Within this article, you will learn all the tips to help  find an apartment easily and quickly as a student. 

Real estate agencies: 

There are many websites that offer apartments for rent through real estate agencies.  The best known agencies that we have found are seloger.com or logic-immo.com.  On these websites you will find the widest variety of choices when looking for an apartment.  You can search according to your specific criteria needs such as; location, monthly rent, number of rooms, number of square meters, whether or not there is an elevator in the building, etc.  The only down side to using a rental agency is that you will have to pay them a fee once you have selected the apartment that you want to rent. 

Advertisements between individuals: 

Advertisements between private individuals are the easiest and fastest way to find an apartment.  There are no agency fees and they put owners and individuals in direct contact with each other in order to limit intermediation costs.

There is a platform called “Right Place” which is the reference in for finding classified ads. But beware when using this website as some of the ads are scams!

There are also sites that connect individuals together such as pap.com, leboncoin.com or entreparticuliers.com.  The advantage of websites like these is that you can find all sorts of useful information such as which documents to present etc. 

Social networks: 

Nowadays social networks have become a very good way of finding an apartment.

You can find different groups on Facebook that offer apartment rentals between individuals.   Some schools even have groups on Facebook for students who are leaving and are looking for incoming students to rent them out.

A last piece of advice, if you are integrating into a new university, do not hesitate to contact the faculty to find out whether or not there is a platform specific to the university to help you find an apartment as these can be extremely useful!
