Tips on travel that no one knows !!

As every student eager to discover new cities all around the world, you aim to travel as much as possible for the cheapest prices. Here at Simply, we became experts at analyzing the best tricks for saving money on flights and housing in order to spend it at bars and restaurants. Here are 5 tips no one knows about travelling : 

1 - Plane ticket costs vary depending on HOW and WHEN you buy them

First of all, you HAVE to know the main plane ticket providers. Our favorites include : Liligo, Kayak and Skyscanner. 

The three of them remain the most efficient choices.  However, their plane ticket prices differ according to when you buy them.

Thankfully, Kayak has created a page to help you save money thanks to algorithms and forecasts called 'Kayak's When to Fly'.  This page gives you a forecast of the best plane ticket prices for the upcoming month.

Buy them at night.

Next, if you want to master travel planning, you need to know that you are likely to get the cheapest plane tickets if you buy them at night. Indeed, as comparators' websites have less traffic, you are likely to get THE best prices. Lucky you !

Use a new device to process the payment

Finally, learning how Internet cookies work: the more you go on a website, an easier target you become. By locating your presence, a website will start sending you emails, showing their adds about their products on other websites (or before a YouTube video). Therefore, if you are browsing on comparators' websites 24/7, you are likely to have inflating prices for plane tickets as well as see TONS OF ADS ! At this point, you will have to find another device to buy your plane tickets on. Our advice ? Plan your entire trip on a public device and buy your tickets with your personal computer. That way, you become a "neutral" user and you'll get neutral prices ! 

2- Adopt the 'bag in a bag' trick  

If you have traveled abroad, you know how strict airline companies rules can be.  Usually, their policies allow you to bring one small bag that fits the overhead compartment and one suitcase. Our piece of advice is the following : always bet on your cabin luggage and adopt the bag in the bag trick. The concept is simple: as airline companies often focus on the number of carry on bags you have, play with them.  Use tote bags and wallets to store your more important and personal items. Put them in your carry on bag when you are passing the security checkpoint. However, get them out of your carry on as soon as you need them and carry them peacefully while waiting at the airport. 

3- Take advantage of everything the airline has to offer (part of the NYOLEM method)

Getting on an airplane demands quite a lot of effort : money, anticipation, packing, time, waiting etc... Once you are on the plane, take advantage of the moment ! Enjoy the little things the company offers.  Such as : 

Do not purchase any food or drinks at the airport. 

Allow yourself a glass of wine while listening to your favorite song all while watching the clouds. 

If you are about to take off and you notice an empty seat next to the window, ask to move there. 

It won't change anything for the crew and it will assure you a better view. 

Do not hesitate to ask for another blanket. 

It's free and it'll keep you from having a cold. You can also use it as a pillow or neck holder.

Just in case you tend to fall asleep easily while voyaging, and ask for the crew to wake you up when they deliver meals.
