However, chances are that when you were living at home with your parents, one of them typically helped you put in on so you never bothered learning for yourself. The simplest and most popular tie in our opinion for beginners would be the four in hand tie. It requires the least amount of steps and yields one of the best looking ties once completed.
1. The first step for tying a four in hand tie is to start with your collar up, loop the tie around your neck so the fat end hangs to the left. It should be 7 or 10 centimeters lower than the thin end.
2. Afterwards, take the fat end and cross it over the thin end to create an X shape.
3. Next, take the fat end and wrap it around behind the thin end. The thick end should now be inside out.
4. Bring the fat end around and across the front of the knot from left to right.
5. Holding the thin end with one hand, pull the fat end up through the neck loop so that the fat end is over the rest of the tie.
6. After, slip the fat end through the tie know that was created when pulling the fat end upwards.
7. Lastly, pull the fat end of the tie to attain your desired knot size
